There are just six companies in the UK that offer a full range of services ensuring complete control and responsibility for an end-to-end funeral service.

These companies:

  • Are FCA-regulated prepaid plan providers.
  • Operate as a funeral director and provide funeral services.
  • Own and operate their own crematoria and memorial grounds.

A Memoria Funerals direct cremation funeral plan does not include a funeral service (there is no hearse, limousine or flowers and no ceremony, at the crematorium) and so costs less than a traditional funeral.

The SunLife Cost of Dying report, 2024, shows that direct cremations are the lowest cost. A basic funeral will cost an average of £4,141, whereas a Memoria Funerals funeral plan costs as little as £1690.

As long as the funeral plan has been paid in full or where the plan has been paid for using a loan with Funeral Safe has been selected.

Pre-paid funeral plans are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Funeral arrangements for a person who has passed away are not covered by the FSCS.
